Established in
1969, B & M Machine Works has been a Tulsa based
company from the beginning! Bill Bays and Denver
Merriman started B & M Machine Works in a small shop
located near down-town. After a few years, Bill and
Denver dissolved their partnership and Denver opened
his own shop in Inola, OK called Machinery House.
Bill continued to operate B & M Machine Works.
Business grew through the late 70's and 80's. B & M
has always been a family-owned and operated
business. His son Kenneth came to work for him full
time after graduating from high school and Tulsa
Vo-Tech in 1986. In 1994, Kenneth married Andrea,
who later became B & M's Office Manager in 1998.
In 2003, B & M Machine made a huge change moving
from its original location at 5th & Trenton to a
much larger building located at Haskell & Rockford.
This increased B & M's operating space by 3 times!
In 2005, Bill at
the age of 76, decided to give ownership to his son
Kenneth who has been managing the shop for the last
few years. Although there has been a slight name
change with addition of LLC (B & M Machine Works,
LLC), Kenneth continues to run B & M as a family
business. And to this day, Bill still comes to work
every day although he is allowed to pick and choose
his projects! So much for retirement!
In September of 2006 we decided to step into the modern age of machining. We began by purchasing several Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. In the next year we added five CNC machines...two lathes and three mills...and a highly skilled programmer to oversee B & M's CNC goals. This has widened our production options. We are no longer just a "short-run" machine shop but a more versatile shop with the capabilities of turning out production jobs.
